I have a cyst on my right ear. I was born with it. It hasn't grown any bigger as times gone on. It's just there. Slightly noticeable when I have my hair pulled pack in a pony tail or tucked behind my ear tho'. (My paternal grandfather had one of these cysts on each ear too...)
While in kindergarten, I was stabbed by another kindergartener between the bridge of my nose and right eye with a pencil. Lead got stuck in there. No surgery to remove it tho' (not sure if it's ever worked its way out on it's own either), but I have this "blue" mark - almost like a tattoo - where the lead entered.
I also have this big scar on my right shoulder from a surgery back in the early '90's due to a dislocation. I don't think anything about it and haven't for many, many years, but I've had at least one woman tell me (in the mid-90's) I shouldn't wear strapless dresses because of it. I was an assistant manager of a loan company at the time and at an awards banquet in which our office was being honored for being #1. Whatever...
I think she was just jealous 'cuz our office won top honors and her office was #2 and was trying to make me self-conscience. It was her attitude towards us all night long (with snippy comments to our other employees) that leads me to that conclusion. Anyway, didn't bother me then. Doesn't bother me now.
I get many questions about the scar and my standard response is, "I told a doctor 'no' and he jumped me anyway!"
Truth is, my (then) 3yr old son was throwing a temper tantrum and when I went to pick him up, he threw himself backwards and took my arm with him. Ripped it out of socket good... 30 days later I had to have surgery on it to keep it from slipping out of socket if I wanted to lift my arm up more than a few inches. (said son is now 25yrs old) Prior to that moment, I'd never had a dislocation or a broken bone in my body ever!
