Pic added!!! pg 3.... Sticky chick question, chicks out of bator

Yes...i've helped chicks before but I sure dont want to yet, as I have 20 eggs that haven't even pipped yet...ity is a day early. I guess I just need to settle down...

but my question is..........

is 70% humidity enough???

I'm trusting the Genesis instructions on this one...A day or two before the hatch fill both trays and see what happens. they say that if 70% of your e g g s hatch temp and humidity adjustments won't do any better.

70% humidity should be fine. I also have a Genesis and kept my humidity between 70-75% for the last three days. I had a very good, clean hatch. Patience, patience-before hatching e-ggs, I had very little and have since found it is a commodity that is very hard to come by!!

Update!! 2 hatched, a blue laced red and a silver pheonix. Have another blue laced red 3/4 way hatched. Other than that, I have one new pip today, and one duck from last night that pipped then stopped, I think, he may be dead as I see no movement at all in him for past 18 hours.

But that leaves a ton of eggs unpipped, probably 20 or so. Can I hope these guys were just early hatchers (day 20) and that rest will hatch on schedule tomorrow???

I keep my Humdity 60-65% in the last 3 days, because when they Zip the humidity goes crazy, and jumps over 70%! I also use the genisis and just had an awesome hatch, out of 23 that developed 22 hatched, 1 quit half way through around day 11.

Also they will probably keep hatching tomorrow (or longer), mine started hatching day 18, and the last hatched day 21.

Well, it's been 22 hours since the first duck pipped, and that was all for him...he's still the same as he was then.

I have 2 hatched still, and one still half hatched... 2 pipped, 20 or so with nothing.

I'm heading out for work now, and wont be home until about 2am. Will keep me away from the bator for a bit at least. Maybe I'll come home to bunches of babies LOL, I'm wishing here.

I'll check this post online later from work to see if anyone else had anything to say.

Thanks guys

Angela

Angela, I hope you come home to lots of babies. I wanted to take a moment and answer your vent plug question on the Genesis. I use two Genesis hovabators to hatch in and I never remove the vent plug, except if the window fogs up with a lot of water droplets. That doesn't typically happen unless your like me and add too much water being overzealous with managing humidity. Usually I fill the two water troughs on day 18, keep the plug closed and see what happens on day 21. If I follow that guideline, I usually hatch every egg in the hatcher. I hope this helps for future hatches.

Thanks jody, glad to hear that.

Well, I got home, and I only had one more chick then when I left...for a total so far of 4. 3 blrw and 1 silver pheonix. BUT I have 4 NEW pips and another egg doing a lot of rocking. We are just now getting into day 21... so I'm hoping for more hatching tomorrow. The new pips all show movement, I hope to wake up to more chicks in the morning!

Next question... whats the longest I can leave the hatched in the bator, without food or water?
