Picture Of The Week (POW) Information & Submissions

Given where you got him I would bet it is a true Ameraucana. Plus I don't think I have ever seen an all black easter egger. Though the Black Ameraucana from Meyer I got last month (they sell Blue so 25% will be black, 25% splash and 50% blue ... I also got a splash in my order of 2 Blue Ameraucana) is effectively an Easter Egger because it has 5 toes on each foot. That is a fail for APA SOP Ameraucana. They have some bad genes in their pool.

Usually you get an "Ameraucana" that is actually an EE. I've never heard of anyone having the experience I had, but it was a very pleasant surprise! He is such a well behaved rooster, I couldn't ask for more.

The only way you got an Ameraucana instead of an EE is because you bought from a breeder that has both. Glad to hear you got a sweet boy.

Sounds like you could’ve gotten a favaucana (faverolles x ameraucana mix).

Your Submissions MUST:

• Be an image you took & own the rights to
• Be a sharp, clean, picture that's at least 800 pixels wide
• Include a short sentence about your picture, e.g., "My overly friendly Buff Orpington named Alehendra"
• We prefer "landscape" (sideways) photos, but we'll accept really awesome"portrait"(tall) pictures... we just may need to crop them

Submit your POW by simply replying to this thread and attaching an image

We don't have a strict process or time-frame for how/when the POWs are posted, but in general they will be posted to the homepage weekly, and clicking on the POW will bring you to the post within this thread where the image was submitted.

Sounds like you could’ve gotten a favaucana (faverolles x ameraucana mix).

Could be, not sure how that happens at a large hatchery. No leg feathering. I paid a LOT for a true Ameraucana. Will be contacting them.
