That's a sure sign of molting and I notice it most prominently in the 10-13 week old chickens- in the morning, the coop looks like someone had a pillow fight in there!

They've never looked bad, or like they're missing feathers at all, besides the occasional period when one of them will stand there looking ill and scratching furiously at her head, feathers raining down.
 
Went searching for information about molting chicken care and found this...just have to add my girl!

Gabby premolt and today.... Bet she looks gorgeous when she's done. I do want to add that she just came off a broody spell.

I can't wait for my Buff Wyandotte girls to molt! They have all been broody once since they started laying and they all 3 look kinda ragged... I want my beautiful sunny girls back, and maybe they'll have a little less black in them after their molts.
