That pigeon is shook

Bert has been able to get up on the perch by herself. I had to help her up and sometimes down for the first few days, but determination to get to Louis made her persistent. XD
I never saw her get up, so I thought she flew, but no??? She climbs??? Up the wire and then kicks onto the perch??? And she’s not stuck. She keeps going up there, even after I “unstick” her. She has a lower perch she’s perfectly capable of going on, but I think she’s jealous of Louis, lol.

I love these funky little weirdos so much.

Also, I got to hold King Louis. : DDDD
I grabbed him after he left the shelf, and he just let me squish him and preen his tail. : DDD he almost fell asleep in my hand. <3

Oh yeah, that’s normal for pigeons, since their ancestors lived/nested on cliffs.

You may want to add a flat perch (if you don’t have one) into your aviary since pigeons tend to prefer those.

Omg, Neet Neet looks ridiculous. I’m glad that’s normal and I don’t have two broken pigeons. XD

Right now I have two dowel perches, an old chicken perch made out of 2”x4”, and an old shelf. I’m hoping to add more shelves once I get the aviary expanded (which will hopefully be soon!) but I’ll have to keep that in mind. Bert really likes that old chicken perch, so once everything is built, I’ll have to see if I have any leftover wood to make her a special perch or two. :3

That’s a good variety! The shelf was definitely a great idea. My pigeons really like a little old shelf I put in there. Neet and Fan will fly to it specifically to dance. I actually witnessed Fan do a whole courting display for Casper on that relatively small shelf instead of on the ground.

One-eye is still inside, that one is a feral who used to have a broken leg. He’s a funny little guy; I’ll be holding him, then, when I put him down, he’ll start cooing angrily at me. It’s as if he’s trying to act like he’s just valiantly fought me off or performed a daring escape instead of being put down gently in his pen.

Hey @Amer, do you think the guy in front is a check or a t-check? I thought he was a check at first but now I’m thinking he’s too dark.
