Pigeon Adventures

Pigeon adventures while vacationing in Puerto Rico! I fed the pigeons of Aguadilla: the extra large one with the bronze bars and white wing tips I named Buck. He was the first in the park. He was the boldest and most dominating pigeon. Also, there was a neat looking checker with a sleek crest. So many colors! 43BB5325-ACD3-44E6-A629-D7780022011B.jpeg 29719BD2-0A65-4948-9106-F60742BF96CE.jpeg 45FC63A1-5EAD-4D12-A839-22E4805EC059.jpeg F5C94257-37F6-45B8-B82B-F4F40F2509BE.jpeg 100C1B8B-C6CE-40C4-973B-BA5E1F62974A.jpeg F23A0870-DC31-4253-B905-DB5716A7B866.jpeg F504A6C0-FFDB-478A-BBED-648B9F644BBD.jpeg 2C343215-A078-46CB-A02C-03D0FF49DE8A.jpeg 91B96C93-8774-4BD7-9E84-BF8F779026A1.jpeg D62B32F7-0850-4C92-A2F4-2905604656A7.jpeg C2CA9CFD-CF85-4334-B3C1-2BDA4F68F808.jpeg 2F7A865B-84A1-48F5-B900-DEE0A0DBE5F7.jpeg 357834AA-85EC-4868-81CF-E9EE0FFAE08B.jpeg A2FCF388-8C5A-4A78-90E6-E2E9032CE3B7.jpeg 95940DE9-2B0A-4EDD-B9E1-53EF2E24EFB1.jpeg 5174118F-48C0-48EB-8E51-4D661CE95086.jpeg E141B279-DDF3-4745-BA12-AF0916437EF3.jpeg D851A111-CE32-4D47-B495-025C7E24C17C.jpeg B0DAAC7D-FC09-4D20-A6D4-E19D72EB5310.jpeg 9A0FA05F-B498-4BB7-9EE5-57CA46CB8CFF.jpeg AB1A51EF-108A-4C7E-B613-565A6834D03A.jpeg 38C1EDC6-9D38-4DB5-92B2-4771B61A09B7.jpeg D66C2B76-F1F6-4774-9DFD-17852980713B.jpeg 7D9A89B7-3FCC-4A5D-A9E6-538579DF50EB.jpeg 49CF8D37-8DC6-463A-9B6C-C06B62BF96BE.jpeg BA580496-C194-477C-9707-4AA263989D2E.jpeg CE27AE1A-FCE1-4D07-B99A-777C68DB6937.jpeg 26AC09BD-330C-4A79-A7DC-CD257BB0431D.jpeg 00650C7E-16C5-465B-AE76-D09F5BB8725F.jpeg

I love the pied recessive red(?) and the red t-check with a crest! And of course the pigeon wall, that’s so cool! Buck is lovely, there are a few in my local flock who look similar (minus the pied feathers). The flock looks pretty healthy too. :D

Is this blue bar some sort of dilute? I saw a similar one in a city I visited once.

Haha, they are pretty well-fed.
As to your blue bar, I guess everything lighter than the wild type would be considered diluted.
I am thinking it is blue bar dilute, also known as silver bar.
I am surprised you noticed that. I didn’t. The effect of dilute on blue bar is so slight… unlike with the red pigeons.
I guess that proves you really enjoyed my photos.

Silver bar doesn’t seem like a popular color according to the internet. I can see why…
Looks like someone tried coloring a blue bar pigeon, but when it came time to color in the black bar, they discovered the black marker was running out and it came in dark grey grey instead.
It looks like a blue bar but with very very slightly less contrast.

Honestly I like the exaggerated chicken breeds more than the exaggerated pigeon breeds. Your drawings did a great job capturing the bizarre. What’s the breed of the third one?
Agreed. One of my problems with showing pigeons is that there are so many ugly ones. And some are even disfunctional!
That one is a Franconian Trumpeter. I think it looks very cool.
I'm surprised there are no pigeons with small bodies and big heads. There are a lot with small heads and big bodies. They look very weird.
I think it might be because feather density is the main thing that makes the head look bigger so if it has a big head you can only achieve what looks like a medium body or a big one.

Yes! The dysfunctional ones make me sad. The most attractive breeds of pigeons to me are the flying breeds, which is funny because they weren’t really bred for appearance.

Kormorners have big heads and small bodies
No wonder I like them so much, they give me d'Anvers vibes
Genuine Homers look to me like aliens that are trying very hard to look like ordinary pigeons but they got a few details off and they look fake.
Also, why is genuine in the name? That's sus.

Most attractive to me are typically the color pigeons.
Just a basic pigeon but with extra pizzaz. Usually the only difference in shape between them and street pigeons is that they are a little more refined.
