Pigeon Talk

Do you have electricity access near your loft?? If so, then I can offer some suggestions. I know pigeons need deep water to drink from,, They will not use nipples. Can show you what worked for me during winter.

Mine use hamster bottles, both Olive with the short bill and Skittles with a long one. So do my ringneck and diamond doves. They will definitely use nipple waterers. Pigeons and other columbids can drink by suction and will also suck water droplets off walls and floors so compared to most birds they don't need depth at all.

Found a pigeon dead this morning. Strangely, I had just noticed the beak deformity yesterday!
She hatched in April 2020, so not a young bird. I feel like I would have noticed the beak issue sooner, I guess I pay more attention to the young ones.
Anyone seen such a thing?

That may have caused pigeon not able to eat:(
Possible. She didn’t feel overly thin though. Being a year and a half old also would seem like it either didn’t bother her to begin with, or maybe grew to a point that made it more difficult to eat, or it recently happened and got worse. ? Hard to tell. I feel horrible for not noticing it sooner.

I have a rescued lost racer who has had a recurring slow crop since I caught her. Her breath also smells at times, though she doesn’t have sour crop since it does empty after some time. Does anyone know what’s wrong with her?View attachment 2928565
Sounds like trich/ canker to me. Can you see any growths/ pus in her mouth?
