Pigeon Talk

You are going to want some nest boxes for them. Come spring they will start breeding like crazy, if not sooner. Bigger boxes allow the squeakers time to learn to eat and drink before they get forced out of the box. Are you going to raise some to sell?

Yep, I think I’ll re-work the coop/run that the bachelor cockerels are in, to make a nice loft/aviary. It’s pretty good size. I can take the door off the coop and make some nice nest areas.
I figure if they do breed well, I’ll sell some once they get going.

Thanks! Better than my guesses! I didn't even have a guess. What family of rollers did you fly?

Birds came from the loft of John Marinelli a NY state flyer who was moving to Va. He purchased several birds from Frank Lavin - a NBRC hall of fame member. All turned out to be cockbirds and he crossed them on his existing birds. He ended up with birds that were fast and deep but not frequent with the roll. He kept these birds for his 'fun' kit, but when he moved he only took his competition birds with him. I stumbled on the key to frequency through 'The Clapper' and had the birds at the point where I thought they were worthy of competition.

Through a NBRC fund raiser auction I got some birds from Dave ? a very successful flyer from the Corning NY area. His birds did not work for me.

Different birds in different hands do different things.

I'm curious to hear how your Turner birds work out for you.
