Pigeon Talk

@WVduckchick, Nat .....Ma'am! You have some great birds! They'll bring alot of excitement whilst they get settled into there new home! I predict by the end of the year you could very well be overrun with pidgies! :p

Overrun, and hopefully not divorced!
I’m actually thinking I’ll test the local waters to see how much interest there is in this breed in my area. If there isn’t much, I’ll try harder to keep the numbers down to just my own enjoyment.
I found out quickly how my chicken numbers got out of hand. I still have too many, but more manageable now. If the pigeon interest is high, I may just get out of a couple breeds of chickens and have more pigeon breeds. They are so interesting and fun!

I'd like to be able to sell a few but the market for pigeons in UK is swamped. There are so many different breeds that I like that I could very easily get out of control! And as for chickens....well enough said!! :lau

Good that Doba is happier.
Thanks. She had to be caged due to an injury and that's not a good life long term for her. She basically sat all day with nothing to do. Finally I resorted to reaching in and chasing her around to encourage her to move the bad wing. It helped enough that she was able to return to the loft and her flock. Now she is doing her 'rehab' on her own. This morning I almost cried to see her on tip toe doing a vigorous morning wing flap! I hope she will improve some more.:)

So precious, you nursed her back. :love

@backyard pigeons You are thinking about training baskets?

I was given two old ones I'll try to fix up, the better one below...View attachment 1635596 View attachment 1635598 View attachment 1635600 View attachment 1635602
Meanwhile I'll just use some general pet carriers I have.
If you are going to race it's good to be able to attach water and food so they learn to get a drink in the basket prior to release.

Sweet!
Not sure if you are looking to repair the others like that, but I found those types of latches online at a place called Sailrite, when I did some repairs to a canvas top on a vehicle. :)
