Nest box fronts are something I'd like, but not a high priority for me.Guess I’ll have to finish making the front for the box soon.
Trip is adorable! Congrats on the egg.

IMO your expectations are not that high, so hope you can get to a win/win result.![]()
Deleted my last post after reading this one. lolI doubt she's going to offer to send me hens, though, sigh. Last time, when I bought the two cocks that were supposed to be a pair, I also wanted to buy a couple more, you might remember, but she wouldn't ship them all in one box, and then wouldn't sell me just one extra because she said she had all her birds paired up and didn't want to sell a single one.
Here's the thing though, looking back at the ones she was also offering to sell me, she said that one was a male, which I agree with looking at the pictures, and the other was "young but small so she thought it was a hen". I'm pretty sure it was a cock too.
So now I don't think I do want her to send me more 'hens' because either she's sending me cocks on purpose or she can't sex them at all.
I'd phone her. Tell her all the birds are cocks, not what you paid for and leave a awkward silence and see what she says. Alternatively you could tell her that you'll take the cock birds of his hands for free but could she please send the two hens that you paid for. That sounds good, but exchanging isn't really a possibility since the birds were shipped, and the seller would probably want me to pay shipping to send the bird back and then get the new bird, etc.
So I'm thinking all I can really do is ask for like, a half price hen or something, but then I still have to pay shipping.
I'd go with she can't sex them. That's a bad move to send all cocks because she wants rid of them. That's how to get a bad reputation and lose sales. I'd let her know what's happened and see what the outcome is. Personally if it looks like your gonna have to buy more I'd go elsewhere.I doubt she's going to offer to send me hens, though, sigh. Well, I managed to connect via Facebook with possibly the biggest breeder of frillbacks in the country. And he says my birds are all cocks. Yay.
I mean I guess at least I know I really can accurately sight-sex them, lol. So that's a plus? Just sucks that I'm going to have to pay shipping, again, and spend money on more birds, again.
That's fish math for you!
Comin along nicely!Got a short video update on my birds in their new loft. I also got some video of the first breeding boxes I made. Looking to make new ones and wanted some input. Take a look and tell what route I should go forward. I have materials to frame out boxes but have been trying to decide how to make the fronts.
Trip laid her first egg!
Guess I’ll have to finish making the front for the box soon.

X2This is why bouncing things off others is so helpful. I have to agree with CCUK, I bet she just isn't good at sexing them. But she definitely needs to know that she was wrong. No matter how you go about it, she needs to learn, if she is going to sell more birds. I'm still at a point where I can't easily tell, so I would never say what they are without being sure. I think you can handle it tactfully and still get your point across.
