Pigeon Talk

Watching the replay, my heart sunk. I’m pretty sure it was Skye, but with the angle, and the sunshine, and a couple roosts blocking part of it, I can’t be positive. The others just kinda stood around and watched. Why didn’t the parents help? :barnie

Momma Trip was feeding Chance, shortly after I left, and I think they accidentally fell out the door to the ground. Then Chance couldn’t get back in.
:barnie :he :hit
Dang it all! :hugs
Hmm. Last time I checked I was still in the volunteer state. But I'll double check when I'm done volunteering ;)

but it's pretty goofy. We own 2acres and at the very back it's 1000 feet away from the road, which is how far it's needed to make it legal to own chickens, but then that is close to another road!!! So no one is able to legally keep them within the neighborhood...
:th

Just do it before they hide and hatch them!!!

Some of the laws regarding animals that you guys have over there are archaic. I heard that in Chicago or illinois it is/was banned to keep pigeons.
I'm not part of the Chicago Pigeon Club, but know they were fighting the authorities against the pigeon bans. Not sure of their current status, but do know there are Pigeon Supply stores in Chicago Proper, and they have not been jailed yet.
Franklin Park that bans Chickens, does not ban Pigeons. Thats where my pigeon friend keep his 100+ flock. He is 1/2 mile distance from me.
One time as I was purchasing some pigeon seeds at a particular store, I also asked if I could also feed these to my outdoor birds. (I was thinking of my regular song birds that come to my feeders. Cardinals, sparrows, etc) Person misunderstood me and thought I wanted to feed feral pigeons. SAID,,,,,,,,,,,,, Yea,,, if you want to go to prison.:gig
I think the punishment currently for feeding feral pigeons is caning.

Somewhat things have changed, and the above PERSONNEL, has retired from the job. I think I may have found the replacement individual.

You wanna get Fields to send you some hatching eggs. You could sell them at half that and still make a killing!
That is the slight problem with Hatching. I would have to do this with half of the hatched. (roosters)

Well shoot... I can't ship live hens..:(

I am annoyed at my pigeons.

So, I had to make room for a new brooder in the garage, and to do that I slid my two pigeon cages right near each other. They're separated in pairs because I'd like it if they would pair off.

One is the silver hen and the bronze kite mystery gender, and the other the pair of cream yellow bars.

Bronze kite is no longer a mystery. He's a cock. He started trying to woo the silver as soon as the other cage was next to them. Here's the annoyance - she was totally down. She kept squatting for him. She would squat, and then he would just stand there and stop wooing and do nothing. :barnie

Maybe he was actually trying to impress the yellow cream bar girl through the bars and wasn't actually interested in the silver hen. Which would be a problem.

Hmm. Not sure. Maybe he wants some privacy. haha. But could you put cardboard between the two cages? Do they can't see each other.
