Pigeon Talk

I've gotten some new birds! Not pigeons, but well, neither were the chickens I saw up the thread so I think it's okay since this is the only part of the site I really talk in.

A pair of recessive pied budgies, I would love to breed them when they are old enough, they are Pepper (more white, male) and Piper (gray wings, female.)View attachment 1801054

The canaries I am rearing on formula are 21 days old and very grown up. They can fly and perch. The one on the left, Bumblebee, is a real problem child and while his three sisters(?) sit nicely together and cause no trouble he is always flying away or making a mess spattering his food all over.

They look so sweet! If I had a budgie I'd call it smuggles!

I have 4 left, I think that will do for the rest of this year.
sounds good! :thumbsup

Some of it is simple, some gets super complicated!
This is my favorite site on pigeon genetics. Try the Pigeonetics game. :)

cool. Thanks for sharing. I'll look at it in a bit.

I just rely on @Pyxis for genetics questions. :D
hay! That's a good idea!:p

They are very pretty! I like the looks of them. Where did you get them at?
I'll just see what happens. I don't want split any of my pairings up. Apart from the brother/sister pair!
ya, hopefully you get a ton of color from those birds :fl

Very pretty! I have 3 budgies, about a year and a half old. The female has been spending a lot of time in the nest box, but I still haven't seen an egg yet.

"GOOD NEWS" one of my 3 missing pigeons made it back (not the one with the broken femur.)

:ya :clap

@Pyxis how's the loft coming along?

Gonna do the roof this weekend and then it's got all the necessary sides, lol. Then I will have to partition it and do perches and nests, etc.

Guess what? As of yesterday my tumblers have an egg :wee

I got some baby pics... Plus extras!

This little "guy" has a bit of a story. He was laid in my flyers coop by a white homer hen, that was paired to another hen... I let them sit on them, hoping to not be fertile. Well, I forgot to check, when I candled, it was moving and wiggling, so I snuck it under a roller pair with infertile eggs. The 2 hens were in a coop with 5racing homer males, so idk who the dad is. He now has 'foster' parents taking care of him, and he has a little black beak. He's really cute. Although I was hoping for a white... Ash red is the foster dad, ash red spread is the foster mom.
