Pigeon Talk

I'm not likely able to make it this year,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but if I did,,,,, then I would have to mosey on down to Nashville to hang with my DD. And if it happened so,,, I would rendezvous with my DD, and your Family somewhere designated like a McDonald's for ice-cream sundaes.

I don't think Kings would survive feral.
How meaty do you think these are???

The pigeon,,, not the Queen.
Alright. You said, "I will not likely able to make it this year" have you been in the past? If you change your mind,,, I will be there. And I'm good for an ice cream social... ;)

BP...I didn't realize you were so close! I'm not going to Louisville. Sadly. No. I currently do not have pigeons. My grandfather had a loft when I was a kid. He was part of some flying group. It was all pretty exciting as a kid when they flew them. I want pigeons. Just haven't pulled the trigger "yet". So much to learn.
Yeah, I understand. If you want, come on to my lofts to learn a bit, and I might (depending on how many at the time I have) be able to set you up with a pair of two...

BP....my big concern is going & jumping the gun on getting birds when I'm not quite ready yet. Basically, I don't trust myself!! But am so glad to know your so close when the time is right!!
Don't worry about that! I started with a stray. I had no loft. It kick started me into getting something built.....so I could get some more!
Does anyone heat their aviaries in cold climates? Just curious. Haven't seen anyone mention it....
They don't really need heating. So long as they are draught free and dry they can withstand some pretty cold climates. @biophiliac had the polar vortex last winter and other than putting an extra tarp on the sides hers faired quite well.

I understand. Your at the right place to learn bunches! Yeah, and like I said... I am working on a good group of racers, ( 18 or so) and once I'm there, I would be more than happy to get you started!

no need to, especially in TN... :) the biggest thing is frozen water, gotta break the ice occasionally.
