Pigeon Talk

Went to newark show today. It was fantastic. There was so many different breeds. To actually see them is so much better than just seeing pictures. I got my Archangels today! They were quite well attended at the show and there was some 15 on show.

They are both this years. The male is just coming out of moult so looks a bit rough on his neck. They are both in the old racer loft now settling in. The person I got these from will see if she has any more available. I'd like another unrelated pair.
Awesome! :thumbsup very snazzy looking starlings! How big was the show? If you get another pair, would you get a new color?
Thanks for sharing those @CCUK !
Racing homers are not known for color so even the addition of a new little red check is cause for celebration in my flock.:D Fingers crossed for a hen. She is Doba's granddaughter. Dad is ash red split for blue and the odds played out in the nest with one red and one blue.:ya

Edit  excuse the background poop, took pic first thing this am. Birds this age are awesome poopers! I swear the nest box gets scraped and fresh shavings daily.:lau
Second edit. Some may notice I missed the banding window on these guys, I'll just have to use clip-ons.
Very nice looking! I want to get a good looking red racer like one of my rollers. haven't seen many though...

Progress so far:

Of course now I'm at work so I'll have to wait until I'm home to see if it finished hatching.
yay!! Soon you'll have a cute little fuzzy baby!

Louisville pigeon show in 13 days!!! I can't wait. :celebrate

I have arranged to visit a loft on the way. A racer, with some rare colored birds. My Dad spoke with him over the phone. He's got whites, grizzles, silvers, jet black eagles, and who knows what else! He races from 350-600 miles. I will be getting a few hens most likely.https://louisville.craigslist.org/grd/d/brandenburg-homing-pigeons/6987599560.html here's his add.

and then I will be getting a pair of Portuguese tumblers, so I then will have two pairs of ports.

who knows what else. :p
How many birds I will come back with??? :idunno

I love how dark those blacks look. Mine are all on the grey side.

CCUK, Archangels look great! Please post more pics when you can, they're stunners.

At the end of November I will be planning on attending the Faircount Pigeon show in Connecticut. I'm planning on bringing something back since its a bit of a drive but I'm not sure what I'm leaning for yet. No flying breeds for sure, my poor homers have been through the ringer, but I like a lot of the fancy breeds the more I look into them.

Pyxis, hows the NN doing?

I've just put the feeders out and I checked the fantails. There is a little hatchling under there! I'm hoping it will do OK on its own. It will be interesting to see how it develops as it's mother is more like a Indian Fantail with a crest and clean legs and the father has no crest and feather legs.
Yay!:jumpy What do you mean 'on it's own' ? Is it only one egg?

If you go to the show, I suspect you will fall in love with a few varieties! But the right one(s) will knock your socks off. I immediately fell for the Sats when I saw them in person.

The baby didn't make it :hit He was the wrong way in the egg. His yolk also wasn't finished absorbing, so he may have had other issues too.

Dammmmmit! :hit :hugs
