So there's this feral bird I'll call Interloper, trying to join my flock. He roosted last night on the edge of a vent cover on the outside of the loft and joined mine when they came out to fly...still hanging around.

I think you should entice orphan into your coop and what better way than this..

I would have all feral pigies in my loft if I could find a batch in white..

Doba is also frustrated still in the cage although she feels fine. the scalped spot on the bacik of her head which was about the size of a dime is finally closing, now about pea sized. My concern was that a cockbird would peck at that area while 'driving' her to nest. She is not a calm bird and everyday I promise her I'm going to let her out tomorrow...then I go back on my word.

It is for the best. If you let her out and it gets split open, your back to square one.

Ok, so I let Doba out this morning and found out she can't fly.
She does not have full use of her right wing. I should have picked up on this earlier but she can move it and you have to look close to see it hanging a tiny, tiny bit lower than the other. So again she's back in the cage.

Oh no. Could she be sprained from being inactive?

Thanks! I would love to have some homers again. I always got a rush when I opened the loft in the morning and they'd go out to fly. It was my favorite chore.

Some were just wild pigeons that my husband and a friend caught to help out at a grain plant. They sold many of those for dog training but I picked out the birds that seemed to be pairs and had nice coloring.

We had some fantails, a few homers, frillbacks and a beautiful pair of Capuchins we named Fred and Ethel. I loved those two, super sweet and would eat out of my hand.

We get plenty of wild pigeons here and my chickens sometimes kill them so I don't see pigeons in my near future

oh why can't they live in harmony? I have pigeons go into my chicken run but they all seem to be too quick for the chubby chooks! I don't know what they would do if they got one though. I hope your broody is just going through a phase, hormones being a bit all over maybe!
