That's one concern I have.. Im hopeing for more suggestions in that area too..

You could put linoleum on the floor like what some people use in chicken coops. Just make sure any surfaces are flat so they can be scraped. (I have had a hoover in both my coops and loft before!)

It currently has linoleum down.. so that could stay..

Well bad news, the squab looks malpositioned so i picked an opening in the shell and drop a few drops of warm water down in it so it can reposition and hopefully zip open. I really want this one to make it because i only have 2 portueguese now.

Not in pigeons much. But have with quail. Id be nerveus taking it in since its altricial and requires hand feeding and such. I think im going to see how it does on its own with no more assistance. Its a newer pair so i dought they will know how to help the egg much. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding whether i should help the egg or not?

I wouldnt bring it in either. If you see its not able to unzip, you can very slowly, a little at a time help it unzip. Just like with any egg, if you see any blood at all, stop and put it back under the parent.. let me find the thread and I'll link it.. A few of us helped another peep not to long ago with a squab hatch.. although hers was in an incubator.. but the same general idea applies..

Sounds like he's on the road to a full recovery. Did you find out what the problem was?

Nope, no idea. My best guess at this time is that he got startled and flew into something and injured his neck/head.
