Pigeon Talk

Imagine that nest in hot humid weather and you will understand why I swapped it out for a fresh one at least x2. Some worry that the parents won't accept that but I never had a problem. The first change I would do about 6 days when I banded them.

Ok good. I wondered. There’s another one sitting right next to the one they are in, so it shouldn’t be too hard to swap out.

Another way I've done it is to just throw some clean shavings over the top of the poopy mess so they are sitting atop the clean layer.

This is what comes to mind when I look at the second pic - @WVduckchick
I guess I would have to call them Yin and Yang...:lau

I filled feeders and both parents came out, so I got a chance for a couple pics. :love

They look almost camouflage in there! They will from real quick now. I cleaned mine out but I left it for about two weeks. It smelt real bad like fishy almost! :sick
Have you picked one up yet? They feel sooo delicate and squidgy! Little sweeties!

I haven’t touched them yet. I didn’t want to freak out the parents just yet. And our temps took another nose dive, so it’s cold here again. Soon though! :P

@backyard pigeons how is your bird with the suspected cocci? Hopefully it is making a recovery.

x2 :pop

Well one more pigeon made it back (sort of) I was called by the SPCA someone at Canadian Tire a short distance from my home caught one of my homing pigeons. They then gave it to the SPCA and they called my phone number on the band.
I went and retrieved it yesterday.
Oh Im so glad he was found and is home now! :hugs
Have any more showed up?:fl

We got the pills from a pigeon keeper in our area. I then treated the bird and after 24 hours it semed 100% but i kept it in for 48 hours to be safe. It is now with the others and seems just fine. It still comes to me when called even after i stuck a pill down! Thanks for asking.
