Those pictures take me right there! Nice birds and nice loft. Didn't see yr homer coming in until you pointed him out, . I have plastic over the opening on one side of the loft too. Do the birds need more food in cold weather? It seems to me they would need more calories to stay warm. I'm sure I have been overfeeding, especially since they haven't been flying and breeding is done. So now I'm trying to cut back to the right amount for several reasons! I'm not exactly sure what the right amount is, especially in winter.

I just give my birds 15 min worth of food. But during the winter, I give corn also. I will sometimes do 10 min of food if I'm training new birds.

I do it once per day for flyers. After they fly so around 4:00. And then twice for breeders in breeding season. At 9:00 and 4:00 and during the winter just 15 min at 4:00. Sorry I should have clarified.

Kinda if it's a clear day and I don't see hawks I'll fly the homers. I haven't seen a coopers in a month or so. Your in lock down, right?

Got a wing pic.
Came home after dark this evening and checked on the birds. Bugsy was NOT in the nest bowl. I started panicking, looking around on the ground. Found her inside the chicken nest box on the end of the coop, all snuggled in the shavings.

I've got tomorrow off, so I'm gonna try to get some wood and start my loft. I think I'm going to go with a 4 by 8 structure, tall enough to walk in, and also an aviary attached.

NO! Go bigger! That's one thing you'll quickly want! But you go for whatever you like. One way slant roofs are the way to go if you ever plan on flying anything since they learn to trap easier with simple roof lines.
