Pigeon Talk

Got a wing pic. :)
Came home after dark this evening and checked on the birds. Bugsy was NOT in the nest bowl. I started panicking, looking around on the ground. Found her inside the chicken nest box on the end of the coop, all snuggled in the shavings.

Beautiful! But I'm kinda wondering what sex is the brown\ white\ and black parlor you have? It looks kinda like that. It's possible.

NO! Go bigger! That's one thing you'll quickly want! But you go for whatever you like. One way slant roofs are the way to go if you ever plan on flying anything since they learn to trap easier with simple roof lines. :)

Haha, if I get more birds they're going into more lofts :p So I'll just do the 4 by 8 for now. That's about all I have room for where I want to put it anyway, especially since I'll do probably a 4 by 8 aviary portion as well.

Definitely just gonna do a slant roof, that's the easiest way to build it anyway.

Hay I just noticed that in the pic with the homer coming in you can see are find of tin in a dumpster! It's on the side of the shed. There's 4 pieces :)

Good plan! I want to eventually do an aviary at my breeders coop but I didnt plan for it so it would be really tough.

I guess it’s possible, but I highly doubt it. Clyde is pretty protective and the most dominant.

Kinda :) if it's a clear day and I don't see hawks I'll fly the homers. I haven't seen a coopers in a month or so. Your in lock down, right?
For now yes. I know I won't be able to resist flying them at some point. That is one of several reasons I want to get them on a proper feeding regime, so they will be keen enough to come quickly when called.

They have to grow into those wings, like pups with their big paws and colts with their long legs.:love

I've got tomorrow off, so I'm gonna try to get some wood and start my loft. I think I'm going to go with a 4 by 8 structure, tall enough to walk in, and also an aviary attached.
I would say my biggest regret is not designing for two sections to at least be able to divide genders or for breeders vs flyers. Best advice is give a lot of thought to the interior layout. I happened to see this loft on a 8 x3.5 footprint(8x4 would be better) where it seems he managed to get two sections in that compact space. I like the door as a part of the solid wall between sections making it usable for perches. I am excited to see what you come up with!:)

Yes! I'm thinking about redoing my flyers coop. I've learned a lot about what I would do differently now. It would be a dual section with lock in nesting boxes. It would be within 10 feet wherever the homers fly. Could they ressettle?

Also, how do you guys quite just one messege? For example I wanted to just do the end of bios post. Thanks!

I'm sure they will resettle easily anywhere on your property.
