So I think I finally figured out who the boys and girls are. One pair has mated already so I'll be keeping an eye out for eggs. The other pair I haven't seen mate so I'm not sure. I figure nature will take it's course though.

Fed the birds tonight and Trip hopped off the nest to eat, so I quickly candled her eggs and they are both fertile and growing beautifully!!


Edit to add - I also saw some hanky panky going on between Skye and Duff, so maybe we have another match going on.

I tried to sex some young ones (the 4 month old ones) and you can't tell yet. But one had black flicking in the tail so that means it's a male! Which I need more of. It's growing into a pretty bird, I'll post pics later.

I finally got a video of my pigeons bathing. they are so funny. I put a small square tub in there and they all jumped in together. I sort of figured they would take turns. They don't seem to mind though.

@WVduckchick just a quick question regarding broody hens. How long can they stay on the nest without having a poo? Speckle hasn't had one since Friday and I'm a little concerned she will explode soon. Should I just leave her be or take her off briefly?

Looking good! Pigeons love having a good bath. They are actually very clean birds. I put a pigeon bath salt in to help deter mites and it makes them smell nice too!
