Pigeon Talk

@Pyxis I can't remember if you discovered what caused twistys twisted neck. I was looking for something earlier and came across this. https://www.northstardoves.com/pages/pigeon-diseases. If you go to the part about salmonellosis (paratyphoid) it can also cause twisted neck. The rest of the site is quite interesting too.

I have to figure it was an injury. I treated with stuff that would have treated paratyphoid and it didn't have an effect. And he's still twisted so it wasn't the virus, either.

Really nice site with lots of good info, might have to bookmark that :)

They so definitely need a bigger tub. I'd say minimum size of a cat litter box. Bigger is better when you have 8+ trying to crowd in there at once.
I even upsized to the bottom part of one of those super pet cages which is about 16x24 and I'll put about 3 inches of water in for them. The heavy black rubber water tubs are good too. I always empty the water out after they bathe bc it will quickly become contaminated and they will drink from it even if they have fresh water in their drinkers.
Java and Shadow make such a nice couple.:love It's nice they can enjoy the enrichment of free roaming in your shop since they can't exactly fly.:)

Yes, they will get a bigger tub when it warms up. Today was very nice, but we take a nosedive again tomorrow for another week, we’ll be back around freezing and below.
I hadn’t thought about them drinking the dirty water that is left, I know they do it. I never thought to dump it, but will do that from now on.

You will see how they react when they see you bringing the tub out. Mine seem very eager to see it - anticipating it will be filled for bathing.:D
