LOL! Probably. I'm going to hatch some Kiki quail for the Easter HAL. i'm trying to figure out how I can use my Retriever Kennel as a loft/quail grow out pen and occasional duck grow out pen. LOL Can you fly the satinettes? I would love to be able to fly birds. I'm not so interested in doing longer flights "toss"? Unless it is white birds for weddings events. Do you use homers for that or do they fly to a trap? So much research to do!

You can get white homers that return to the loft from distances. @Hokum Coco has white ones that he uses for weddings and other events.

Trip is still being hoggish with the babies. I barely got a small peek. I didn’t try very hard when Bonnie hatched Bugsy. I did handle Bugsy a bit, now she still won’t come to me. Should I try harder with these? Or leave them alone? I don’t want to handle them excessively, but I would love it if some trusted me a bit more. I’m not big on handling any of my birds, but I don’t want them scared of me either.

Empty egg shells, I pulled out from under her.
And Breezy and Duff posed nicely for me. Lol

Trip is still being hoggish with the babies. I barely got a small peek. I didn’t try very hard when Bonnie hatched Bugsy. I did handle Bugsy a bit, now she still won’t come to me. I usually start handling them more about the time I band them when their eyes are just open. If you handle them a lot they won't be scared of you. They still may not enjoy handling as adults and they may or may not come to you depending on the individual bird. The guy from the Maney Loft channel takes the babies and hand-raises them from about 2 weeks on for extra tameness.
Some toss the shells out themselves.. I'd see one one the floor and know there was a hatch.
Are Breezy and Duff paired up?

I believe you can loft fly them. They can be used as dropper birds for racing lifts.

Duff has been spending time in a box, but no eggs yet.
Bonnie and Clyde are on 2 eggs. They are due around the 15th/16th. And Shadow, the parlor roller, laid her second yesterday, so those should be due around the 20th.

I don’t like the idea of taking them, so I can’t imagine ever doing that unless the parents were horrible to them. These are in a spot that will be easier to get friendly with, I think. Bonnie tossed her shells out too, but for some reason, Trip didn’t.
Not sure who Duff is pairing up with yet. Seems to be Skye mostly, so we’ll see who ends up in the nest.

I’m going to add more netting cover to my duck pen, perpendicular to the current netting. There are some small gaps between zip ties that I think a pigeon could escape through. But once I get that done, I’ll let them fly in there to see how well they return to their own place. Since they say “don’t fly a bird you don’t want to lose” it will be a while before I let them fully loose, if ever!

Can anyone explain to me the process of sexing using the vent bones a bit better? I got a handle on each of the birds today and I used the dominant bird which acts most like a male as a reference. They all felt about the same to me but I think I must have done something wrong.

And as promised here's some pictures of each of them.
827- Possible female

826- Possible female, almost never makes any sound.

833- 99% sure this is a male, dominant bird in loft.

838- Possible male, always fighting with 833.

826 and 838 are the siblings. They were identical when I got them and both still had a fair amount of yellow fuzz on them which the other squeakers did not.

I love the solid white pigeons. I considered one before settling on a German owl because they have a more relaxed temperament.
