Pigeon Talk

Homers are in! I was looking them over and the two cock birds have 2019 bands on. One hen doesn't have a band. The other has a 2016 band.

So at the chance they're not officially paired (especially because they aren't flying well....) I put them on either side of the cage. I'm going to put the pouters in the cage they came out out of until I get my second loft built.

Do they use rabbit nest boxes? I have one of those still laying around; tempted to stick it in the cage with my cream yellow bar pair and see if they'd lay some eggs.

I had once made a smaller version similar to the style of the rabbit nests for some serama, and since removed it from that coop. When I had the parlor rollers in the pen with the Sats, I put that little box on the ground for the rollers, just in case. They stood on the front ledge of it to sleep, but never tried to nest in it.
But it happens to be the one that Breezy and Duff have claimed now. I keep looking for an egg in it, they are in it quite a bit, but still no egg.

I tried looking under Java and Shadow, but still am not sure if theirs has hatched yet or not. I think I saw an egg shell half, but not positive. Should be any time now.

Yay, more homers on the thread! Nice colors/pattern.:thumbsup The 2019 birds are way young to breed, imo. By 6-7 months they may start pairing.

. They stood on the front ledge of it to sleep
Laying it on its side might make it more appealing to pigeons as a nest vs a roost.
