Pigeon Talk

I got it in without any taking apart! I had a little help :) I put it through the door, than the two tallest boards through the window as much as possible, and then it was in!
:thumbsupYou know you do not want to mount it flush to the wall, right? ... I think it's best to use a 1 or 2 inch spacer so you can scrape front to back and to give the bird some 'elbow room'.:)

A start of race.
B pigeons intended destination (home loft)
C where pigeon ended up, at chicken keepers yard

Looks like it came right through my town. We had a racing homer land on our street a few years back. I tried to pick it up but it flew off. There is a very small chance it was the same one I suppose. I'd never seen another banded pigeon around here.

Just more proof that not all of us (pigeon fanciers) are in the killer mood;).
A few years back on another thread, there was one pigeon that arrived by a chicken keepers home. That person did contact the owner. The owner, declined to pick up the pigeon, but for GOOD LOGISTIC REASONS.
I hand sketched the approximate info.

The pigeon owner said, when contacted, that he would not be able to make the 250 mile trip one way to pick bird up. Told the finders to kindly keep him. Releasing the pigeon from point C would most likely have pigeon get lost again, since they do not like crossing large bodies of water. The Lake Michigan is about 100 miles across at that point.
My thought for you CCUK, is trace the route that your found pigeon should have flown during the race. Was there a significant size lake that may have thrown the pigeons directions off:idunno.
Who knows,,,,,,:idunno maybe the winds were strong enough to alter the pigeons flight.
Or are pigeons just like MEN:old
MEN DO NOT STOP TO GET/ASK DIRECTIONS WHEN DRIVING AND LOST. :gig:lau
That is a common line here on this side of the pond. Not sure it is a much used term in UK:D
The pigeon was in a 85 mile sprint. Should have been about two hours. Or less. In UK there aren't any large bodies of water apart from that that surrounds us! Wherever you are in UK the furthest you can be away from the coast is 65 miles! That's why most of the long distance racing, the liberation points are mostly in France or Spain. They fly over the channel OK as on a clear day you can see the other side.
It basically overshot its destination and carried on north and was spotted in a city called Doncaster. I am south of there so it had a good fly around all last week! Who know why it went wrong, the same with boomer. Its true here also that guys don't ask for directions, we'd rather spend all day lost then stop to ask!

The picture on the right looks like it has too much mucus. Are they all feeling okay?
Yes both parents are acting fine. The squab's droppings are normal as usual and the adults have had this sort of on and off. Here's another picture from today, I'm not happy with the color but they firmed up a lot.

No mucus either, which is good!

If they are fighting something is there anything that I should give them besides the apple cider vinegar?
Can you get 4in1 or better still 7in1? They clear up a range of the more common ailments that pigeons get like canker, mites, cocci, worms and a few other things. They are both a good all rounder. If you can diagnose a specific problem it would be best to treat it individually but I would definately recommend giving them a course of either one.
Eta. Also if there diet is to rich in oily seeds like linseed or rapeseed that can also cause watery/oily pooh.
