a lot of pairs seem to wait a few weeks longer after raising squabs. I wouldn't give up on them quite yet.Unfortunately my pair seems to be done breeding for a while, I gave them a second nest bowl and more material when their young were about two weeks old and they are now over a month old and independent and still no more breeding. The weather has been good and I haven't seen any hawks though so I've been letting the old birds out daily but they've mostly just been sitting on my roof. I'm at a loss of what to do about it at this point because if they're shooed off they will simply go and sit in the trees and at least on the roof they should be able to spot a hawk coming after them a bit further off. The last cock that I lost was particularly bad with this and I believe it was him who "trained" the others to sit around like that.
Egg laying takes a large toll on the condition of the hen which results in varying times for the second clutch to appear.Unfortunately my pair still no more breeding.
