Pigeon Talk

Leo and Chenoa are proud to announce the arrival of 2 live chicks.:love I'm embarrassed to admit they triumphed over my efforts to toss eggs.

I knew I had goofed up when I saw an empty shell in the farthest corner of the aviary from the loft. A good cockbird will make sure no shells are visible near the nest to attract predators. Leo is a good daddy and mate. He is twice widowed* and Chenoa is his third mate. So with this clutch he will have produced offspring with each of his mates.
yay! I think! :p we do need some pics, of the parent birds, and babys!

Congratulations momma! :jumpy:jumpy
Is chenoa barless? They are quite rare.
Thanks! I hope for another on that looks like Mom.

Is bareless a thing of they aren't blue bars?

Yes. No bars or check. Just straight blue.

Chenoa is a T-check I think, verry dark. The barless I have seen look like Leo - just minus the bars. Maney has a pair of them... I know they are uncommon but not my favorite look....

Such a beautiful cockbird! :love

Are you gonna start tosses or not? Don't feel bad if you don't want to. I don't blame you for sticking with loft flys!
Thanks! Leo is a good boy. :D I'm NOT in a hurry but I will eventually try some tosses. It's so hot now I haven't the energy to go anywhere! I gave them open loft today and they are finding some nice shady spots. I will let you know right before I do the first toss.;)

Hi all, One of my pigeons seems to be limping. I've been watching her for about a week or so. She's eating and can fly, but something seems to be going on with her leg. I caught her this weekend to get a closer look and I couldn't find anything other than maybe a little heat and swelling. Nothing major, though. Are pigeons prone to leg injuries? Any ideas what to do? Just watch and wait?
