Pigeon Talk

Rosie ate from my hand tonight. She was very suspicious! She took a few steps, craned her neck, and just stared at me hand for a few minutes. Then she'd take a few more steps, and stare. My arm was cramping but I didn't dare move. Eventually she very, very slowly took one pea from my hand, and ran away to swallow it. But a few seconds later she came back and ate all the seeds from my palm in short succession... and then ran away again.

Think I'm going to separate my dominant cockbird and his mate for a bit. I just caught him feeding and mounting his seven week old daughter...
As far as I know he didn't mate with her yet but the two were going through the motions. They're all on population control atm with fake eggs anyway but still a bit gross.
(Father is the black spread, mother is the grizzle in the foreground. and the daughter is the grey check)

Two notable things happened today.

One of the pigeons tore a hole in the playpen... Which was advertised to contain cats. Its a piece of junk, I've had nothing but problems with its construction and I'm moving both back to olives cage.

And Rosie flew across the house today.
Yay for the second update!:clap

Not good for the first though. :hmm

I'm not telling you what you should do,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but expressing my opinion on WHAT I WOULD DO!!!. :old
Amazon is a good organization, and they do want to please their customers. They are not the manufacturers of these products, but simply re-sellers.
I would return it to Amazon, and request a refund. More of a PRINCIPLE, rather than the monetary aspect. If cage cant hold up to a pigeon, ,,,,,,,,,,,,, how is it possible to hold up to a cat.
Amazon can possibly review the situation, and decide not to carry such an inferior item. They may even offer you a better item in exchange.
Just my thoughts.:caf

I glued the bottom flap in place in order to use it, voiding my ability to return the product now unfortunately.

I've had to remove my dominant cock. He been a real pain in the.... One of my younsters got scalped I wasn't sure who did it until I caught him attacking the other one. He was also attacking my newly acquired stray (she's now called ziggy!). He had hold of her by the face, so he's now in time out... indefinately. Without him the loft is absolutely tranquil!

I've never had a problem returning anything to amazon. They never question why, they just send a return label via email.
