When I read that, ALL I could imagine was one of these. with

BP,,, sorry I could not get to answer earlier..
When I had a couple squabs hatch out during winter,,, I placed a Heat Lamp underneath loft area just under where they were. The warmth radiated up, and only plywood was the barrier. I made sure that the heat was not too hot to cause fire hazard concerns. I did what I could at that time. I did not have a heating pad available. If I was to do a repeat,,, I would go with a heating pad sandwiched between 2 fireproof items, like large dishes. Nest bowl on top of that. I later place a Reptile Heated Rock on a shelf. It would keep the small or adults warmer .

That's alright. I thought about that, and putting an extra reptile heating pad under them, but we don't have enough extension cords to reach.

BUT, I checked on them all last night before I was going to bring them in, and thankfully the mother was awkwardly standing with legs spread apart over her large babies! she couldn't quite sit on them... So they all stayed where they were. And I just checked this morning, and they are all good! Thank you everyone!

Sorry for the late reply. I haven't had any squabs in the cold either. Seems like you got some good advice and mom pigeon did her job too

Yeah, pigeon parents are good, but way over protective! They will bite, slap and grunt. They have brought me blood! Just another thing your will enjoy when you get pigeons. Speaking of which, when ya thinking? I have a waiting list now, but would set you up when I get a few more.

I’m back on page 889, I haven’t been checking this as much as I want to..

BUT I have an updated pigeon crate to show everyone. They are still living happily in my front porch as of this moment, now with a better view!

The stand is made from my extra milk crates I haven’t turned into nest boxes and and extra piece of 3/4 inch plywood we had left over from fixing the horse shed. The platform inside the crate is some plywood I removed from the little chicken coop I had bought from someone online and some random pieces of barnboard that was cut off the little coop when we installed the window. The sand was an extra bag from making the chickens dust bath, held in by some empty feed bags I had laying around. I like being resourceful and using what I have on hand to make stuff, it’s convenient because we don’t throw away extra materials

They are really enjoying the platform they have
