So back to pigeons.. how likely is it that a new pair would lay a second set of eggs in a nest? Or do I have 2 females

I have had exactly one nest with four eggs and it was a pair of hens. Never had a pair lay in the nest of another pair.

As long as 1 hen wouldn’t lay 4 eggs by herself in one nest then it’s confirmed that I have 2 hens! I’m very thankful if I don’t have to worry about fertilized eggs for the pigeons

As long as a cockbird does not get access to the hens you don't have to worry. Just bc the two hens are paired doesn't mean they won't mate with any available cockbird...

There’s no cockbird for my pair, it’s only the two pigeons. It’ll probably only be the two of them as I don’t plan on getting more

What pretty birds
Is there anything special that needs to be done for frillbacks and their feathers/leg feathers?

There’s no cockbird for my pair, it’s only the two pigeons. It’ll probably only be the two of them as I don’t plan on getting more

I only gave a SAD like,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, well, you probably know I like to infuse a lil humor to keep everyone on their toes...
I have posted somewhere in the distant past, that keeping 2 hens is much more IDEAL than other combos, if you do not want baby pigeons. Hens live in better harmony than 2 males, which sometimes will fight. (but not always).
If you will eventually construct a loft with outdoor access, then the dynamics definitely change.
You may end up with 2 stay @ home moms,, with babydaddies still flying the field.

They will have a loft, but no outdoor access. So no baby daddies here! Unless I somehow find myself with more pigeons in the future
They are going to get a 10’x5’ walk-in aviary accessible from the loft (that’s built into the ceiling of the chicken coop). That way they can still have ample flying space even though it’s not free flying, I remember someone here mentioning them being easy pickings if it’s just the pair flying instead of a flock..
I’m glad it worked out this way, I was not excited about potential squabs/having to collect those eggs. I did that for the 5 years I worked at the farm and I definitely did not enjoy the wings/pecks I received in return for my efforts to control the pigeon population.. <- me @ the old pigeons lol

Oh I forgot to mention but I candled the eggs, the one set had been in there for a few days with them sitting (maybe 4-5?) but I didn’t see anything. Would there be development at this time if the one was male and she did happen to lay 2 more eggs?

Edit: should I put two sets of fake eggs in the nest so they both don’t lay more??

I think normally, if you leave those eggs, they shouldn’t lay any more. If you take them, they will lay more. So you could swap them with fake ones.
