Baby pigeon is starting to look like a real bird now, haha. He can get himself into and out of the nest on his own.

How do I go about handfeeding him some seeds now that his parents are feeding him mostly seeds? Just offer them and see if he eats them?

I never did figure out how my pigeon got a chicken egg into her nest. Since I took that chick, she is now on 2 more eggs. I also found 3 more pairs of eggs, and one nest has 3 eggs! 2 hens and a cock.

Do you think while she sits she is pondering what may hatch from her eggs this time?

You need some crows in on that deal as well!

The ones that live around here don't really ever come down to the feeders and are honestly pretty skittish. I do see and hear them chase the hawks off from time to time, though. That blue jay is a member of a small group that lives around here that comes to the feeder several times a day and is always in the surrounding area which is nice.

That's a fun age! It's especially funny if the nest box is on the floor to see them run out after the parents when they still want to be fed. I just attached a small cup in the box with some seeds for him to pick at. He should be interested in them but it might take a little bit for him to master picking them up.

Oh I forgot to let you guys know, (you’re probably tired of hearing this from me) but the pigeons have laid their third set of eggs on Thursday! The embryos are doing great and getting bigger and bigger! I have a much better nest setup this time, thanks to Qwerty

I have Blue Jays at my bird feeder daily. There was a time (few years back) when the West Nile Virus was rampant, and wiped out many of the blue jays and crows. They seem to have recovered in last 2 years at least in my area.

I just attached a small cup in the box with some seeds for him to pick at. He should be interested in them but it might take a little bit for him to master picking them up.

Thought it would be a good idea to mention,,,,,, have a water source/supply/dish, that junior can get to himself.

X2 on the water drinker! I dip the beaks like you would day old chicks to give them the idea.

I just saw that and it cracked me up! I changed their water and the parents got a fresh drink and then the baby launched himself from the the nest to chase Dad all over to get him to feed him, haha.

Its so fun to watch! I have 4 squeakers on the ground now, who frantically go running around squeaking at food time chasing all the adult birds. it's interesting, because the parents give them less food than the other birds. The whole flock kinda pitches in, and I love it! It equals in some baby's with crops dragging the ground! Happy babies...
