Ohhh, you need to get more videos of your babies posted. They are priceless! They really trust you! Mine would have none of that camera business! How do you do it.. ?!

I love the updates you are giving us!

I want to get some babies so badly but I know I cant. I have to get my biddies fixed up with this lice deal--again..

Sparrows. Well, we spent the day completely proofing the girls' new coop, and there's no way any bird aside from something supernatural will be getting into this coop!

Now I just have a few weeks of dusting for mites/lice. -.-

Chickenfan, that's the amazing thing about these babies! I've not done anything different with them than with previous years! I think it has more to do with their breeds than anything else. Wellies seem more hit-and-miss as far as whether they will be friendly or not, but Dorkings and Marans are more inclined to be friendly.


Today, I was tired and hurting from sitting on the floor for so long, so I laid on my belly and let the chicks run loose on the floor in front of me. They didn't know what to do! They're so used to having my lap as something to climb on, they were totally thrown off! Elda kept coming over like she was lost, but she wouldn't settle down for cuddles until I sat up again.

I ended up putting paper towels down because I didn't want to clean up little poops everywhere--just pick up the towels and toss them, right? Well, not a one of them dropped on the paper towels! The stinkers all let loose on the edge of the tarp, instead, so I had to clean up after them anyway! They went to bed on their own this evening, though, so I guess that made up for it.

Anyways, the babies are 1 week old today! I didn't get the chance to do anything special, but they had lots of play time and the opportunity to poo all over my floor. Thank goodness I put paper towels down!
