Planned Parenthood not to blame; the truth post #25

Maybe I am misunderstanding you and if I amforgive me. I think the OP was frustrated with PP because they went there to get a contraceptive that was implanted or a shot for a drug user that was not responsible enough for the pill and was frustrated that they would only give them the pill. I beleive it was then that the girl refused the pill they offered.

My guess is maybe they offered the pill over the implant to save money.  I know overhead is cheaper for a business especially "nonprofit" to hand out rubbers and pills over Depos or Norplants.

chickened, I was told that my niece agreed to the implant. However, learned later from my sister that while at PP my niece informed PP that she wanted the pill. The reason being that she knew someone that had the implant and still got pregnant. We won't ever know what was discussed with the doctor since my sister didn't go in the exam room with her. It seems that PP did what they were asked to do. I clarified it in an earlier post. Sorry for the confusion.

I guess I will change the title of the thread as the situation has been better clarified.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I was wrong. I still think a private doctor clinic is a better choice although it may be cheaper at PP for some.

Addiction can only be addressed if the daughter is willing and ready to change. I'm pretty certain that they have tried getting the daughter help for her addiction in the past....
In the meantime, until the daughter wants to get sober, IF she ever wants to get sober,.(she may NEVER get clean) she NEEDS a good reliable birth control so she doesnt bring a drug addicted baby into this worldto just suffer and grow up neglected by a druggie parent...

Believe me I know. I have been on both sides of the ball on addiction. I completely understand what they are trying to accomplish but I think it looks good on paper but feel its only condoning her lifestyle. Birth control might prevent a drug addicted child but will not prevent a host of other problems associated with sex. Choices have to made regarding this girl, all of the extremely difficult, I fear for her life as family well being.

Your private doctor usually has first hand knowledge and a better patient history and relationship. PP runs you through like cattle according to some past girlfreinds of my youth. PP is a federally funded birth control clinic that would never make it on it's own. Cannot possible be better than a private doctor clinic but it can be cheaper. Think of it as shopping at The Gap over Walmart.

Private doctors are better at birth control then PP doctors ?

And if she doesn't have a family doctor ? Would a private doctor given her the other treatment that she didn't want ? Would a private doctor given her better pills ?
I don't think there are many businesses that could "make it on it's own" that doesn't charge over half their costumers and under charges the rest.
Any doctor can only go by the information they're told, if you take drugs and don't tell the doctor you are the fool.

My niece (33) is drug free at this time. Two years ago, she was addicted to both meth & crack. She did not go to her regular doctor, she went to the emergency dept if she got ill. Course the hospital didn't get their payment, she didn't care. I understand the OP thoughts on a drug addict bringing a child into the world. It is very close to home. A friend of mine, a RN I work with, has adopted her granchild. The GC is 9 years old, child is on meds for ADHD, had to go to speech/physical therapy for different problems. I asked her about her grandchild, she replied "not my grand, my child, I legally adopted him/her". The biological parents are not involved in the family at all. I see children everyday that I wonder what the parents were thinking as they were doing their drugs, getting drunk. My prayers for your family! God bless you for caring.

Doctors bill twice what they expect to be paid it is common practice, lawyers do the same. That is why cash payees get about 50% off.

Birth control pills are about 15.00 a month according to what I read so that cost is minimal either way. Which by the way puzzles me why there is such a debate now about birth control coverage, it would make more sense to debate cancer treatment or something else that is very expensive and insurance won't cover. I think it is another smoke screen on the masses to distract simple minds from the real issues of healthcare. But that is another topic for another day.

Maybe I am different but my family doctor knows me. I don't do drugs either. I don't think her going to the doctor was even her idea.

I do agree with you
