Planning quail aviary

I too live in the city and my aviary is on concrete. You don’t have to secure it to the concrete slab if you are running hardware cloth on the underside.... and the weight of the substrate... it’s not going anywhere. Our predators are squirrels, rats, other birds, possible snakes... I used 1/4” hardware cloth attached with washers and screws

I have to all, are you from Bridgeport in Chicago? Your avatar looks like it has the Sears tower in the skyline. Would be cool to know somebody is raising quail for eggs in my old neighborhood.
@BReeder! Yep, you're right!

I'm a bit reluctant to drill anything into the concrete as I might remove the aviary later on, but I think it should be heavy enough to avoid getting blown over.

Awesome. I grew up in the area. In the burbs of Chicago now. Sorry to hijack your thread, but join us in the Illinois Quail Keepers thread too. I started it not long ago.

Perhaps we can trade birds or hatching eggs in the future. I still get over there to visit family quite often.

Best of luck with the quail pen. Keep us updated.
