Plastic Bin Brooder, and preventing fire with heat lamp?

Okay, I am currently using a chair from my kitchen table which, in which the thermometer is showing 95-98 degrees, with the cool side being 85-88. I’m trying to get the bulb to direct more on the warm side, but it does create a large output, and the clip is not very flexible. I’m not able to get an incandescent today, but the chicks had been seeming to be doing fine and were sleeping under the lamp. Thank you for the response!
As long as the lamp is above the edge of bin, move the bin(or chair) over so lamp is only partway over bin.
Does that make sense?

You can get halogen bulbs to replace incandescent bulbs. I use them in my homemade heated base for my galvanized fount. They come in different wattage. But I haven't seen anything higher than 72 w, but I wasn't looking for any higher wattage. 20180217_162642.jpg . I used an inline dimmer switch with a 250 watt bulb. 20161020_102607.jpg . Shown on left. I got it at my local Ace hardware. GC

Thank you, I’ll look and see if I can find that soon.

If you have a hardware store, (not Lowes or Home Depot) like Ace or and independent, they should still have incandescent bulbs. When the word went out years ago that they were going to stop selling these bulbs, I raided all my lamps and fixtures in my house and stockpiled the incandescent bulbs.

Then I heard about the infinitely more superior heating pad system of brooding small numbers of chicks, and I haven't used my vast stockpile of bulbs. You really would be wise to research the heating pad method. It removes all the guesswork of how warm to keep the brooder. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...d-in-the-brooder-picture-heavy-update.956958/ This has all the information you need.

I have mentioned the heater method to my mom, and she hasn’t said yes, I feel like it would be a fire hazard as well, and wouldn’t the wire running through the brooder be a problem...?
