when our cows do that we clean it off and push it back in and hope it stays....but it usually doesnt soo we sell her....so all i can say is clean it off push it back in aand hope it stays

Before reading this whole thing, I would have guessed she passed a salamander or lizard partially digested and practically whole! Brandy swallowed a whole chameleon one day, but I never saw her pass anything strange. Best wishes!

That looks like her oviduct. I can't see if her ovary is there, I don't remember what they look like that well as it has been a while since I did a chicken necropsy. Is it too gross for you to cut into the last part of the tissue that came out and take another picture? Is there a round, firmer than the surrounding tissue structure at the end where the ovary would be if it was there? The tissue appears diffusely inflamed, she may have a infection that caused this to happen. Has she ever had respiratory disease? Best wishes for her recovery. I would provide good supportive care and watch her closely, I have no idea what may come of this. If the oviduct passed but the ovary is still in there functioning that could lead to trouble too. Keep us posted!

Surely Brandy's gizzard ground that lizard to bits--I guess you could say chickens swallow, then chew via the gizzard.
