Here is a link: http://ag.ansc.purdue.edu/poultry/
click on species information and go to poultry.

Here is a link to the diagnostic lab (necropsy): http://www.addl.purdue.edu/
Click
on "Staff Page" and scroll down to Avian. I believe I worked with Donna Schrader (can't remember for sure). They are awesome to work with. You can click and email. They always answered me back...even will call if you leave a phone number.

I'M SO SORRY I DIDN'T RESPOND LAST NIGHT! I DIDN'T CHECK BACK UNTIL THIS MORNING. I HOPE YOU ARE ALL STILL HOLDING UP!!!!

I think it may be best to leave the "tissue sample" in the refrigerator. If you are desperate, you can call Purdue directly. Those folks are so nice...especially the Diagnostic Disease Lab. When I called, they told me exactly what to do with my hen to preserve her until I got her to the lab. They have seen everything and would probably be very interested in seeing the pictures.

BJ, thanks so much. I just E mailed them and sent pics.

Glad you took BJ's advice and sent an email...
Please try and telephone the Diagnostic lab and see what they advise but I suspect in this case (especially since you are so inexperienced and hesitant to even touch the tissue>no fault to you on that score btw) then I suspect they will ask you to take it to a normal vet to ensure it is preserved and mailed in the correct fashion to wherever it is it will eventually need to go (sometimes it will take more than a day for your email to be answered I fear and if more than 24 hours passes then this can sometimes make a big difference)...
this is why I advised even a normal vet...they would know how to preserve, pack and ship to someone who DOES know.

Deb, I was hoping for some good news this morning. Just wanted you to know my thoughts are with you and hope this day is better than yesterday. DH feeling better? Good luck,

I want to thank you all for the great help..and info.
When I went out this morning...Eve is no longer bleeding. Well..not externally. She will not eat, or drink...just sit there and stare into the turkey pen, and pace....wanting back in. So, reluctantly ... I put her back in there. Maybe now she will eat, being back with her friends. I will keep a watchfull eye on her...but she sure seems alot happier, being back with Adam and the other girls.
Thanks again..
Oh, and DH is feeling better some...thanks.

Deb

Well, as of today, Eve is still alive. She doesnt move around so much, but heck...if something like that fell outta me, I dont think I would either. She seems happier back with Adam.
I was able to get this....thing....to someone who is going to Perdu, for poultry. They will look at it tomorrow hopefully. I asked the local vet, ( he does not do poultry) and he said it was part of her intestines!?? Wouldnt she be dead already? I dont know....hope I will know more in a day or two.
