Please Help!! What do I do? CAR ACCIDENT ****ADVICE/HELP****

Couldnt of said it better myself.... well said.

Your life and the life of your passengers is much more precious than that of the vehicle you were driving, the possibility of losing your license, the thought of your parents insurance going up, or any other number of things that you may be faced with at this point in time. You could've been facing involuntary or voluntary manslaughter charges had you killed someone, passenger in your car or someone else in another car - so..... thank God above you made it out alive as did everyone else.

Take the punishment as its dolled out - and take all of this as a learning experience, not to be repeated.

Glad you're safe.

If u can afford a lawyer, consider getting one. (My fiancee was a cop for 29 years, he is telling me what to say here). The judges have heard everything so don't expect to make any excuses they haven't heard. Be contrite, and honest and ask the judge if it is possible to get "pbj" (Probation before judgment). Make sure to tell the judge about your good grades and staying out of trouble until this happened. Good luck. Don't worry, this will not affect your future. It was just a wake-up call- Look out for deer and other stuff while driving. And follow the rules.

Okay LOOOONNNNNGGGG UPDATE!!

Court is tomorrow.
I have to miss the last day of school to go to court.
My court was supposed to be moved to the afternoon, but only moved an hour.
My mom successfully moved it to juvenile court, so it wouldnt be on my Permenent record, and so I didnt have to miss school.
SOUNDS GREAT? RIGHT????
Well now I have to go at 10:30 to hear my "order to move to juvenile court."
........ So I miss school, and dont even get to get this over with!!

..) and drive safe kiddo!

What is bothering me is that the op says it was "one little mistake" just after telling us that what he did were "Both big No No's". I don't see completely disregarding the laws on driving with a permit as a little mistake. Driving is a privilege that is to be earned. At this point it has definitely not been earned. I hope his privilege is revoked because I don't want someone who doesn't take the laws for the safety of all seriously on the streets that I drive my children on. He asks what he should do and I think that he should respectfully accept responsibility for his actions and work to pay off every dime his parents are out of for it including the insurance deductible. If he can't get a license till he's an adult then that will be a huge lesson learned. Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt or worse.

After reading all the posts (and agreeing with all the advice given on going to court), I completely agree with you SarahBeth. My daughter is 16 and just got her license a couple months ago. I know all the states have different laws but they all have consequences for breaking those laws. The law in Oregon is she cannot drive with anyone other than a family member for 6 months and then after that, only 3 people under the age of 25 for the next 6 months. She knows the consequences for breaking the law both with the state and with us - all privileges lost till she is 18, little mistake or not. To me, it's just part of the privilege of driving - you need to own up to breaking law if you do and pay the price.

I really do hope it works out ok in court, I'm glad that no one was hurt and hope that a huge lesson was learned. Best of luck to you.

Well this chapter in my life STILL isnt over.

My transfer to juvenile court didnt go through, so I am back in court again on June 8th to try to transfer it again, and then I will have ANOTHER court date in juvenile court.

Im am not trying to get out of punishment, and have researched the consequences ALOT. I am thankful noone was hurt as well and will take whatever the court hands me... I wasnt trying to get out of punishment, I was looking for help so the punishment didnt have as big of effect on my life.

I have a summer job to pay off the $500. deductable, and will pay the increase in insurance until I am off their insurance.

And thanks for the advice everyone!! I was the best dressed one there, and learned alot about how the court works. It was pretty funny because the guy with marijuana charges was wearing saggin' jeans around his knees and a tyedie shirt.

Thanks for all of your help everyone.
