Should I put any antibiotic ointment on it? Neomycin? Bacitracin? Not sure why I don’t have neosporin. I have both on hand and neither have pain reliever in them?

Do you have any plain Vaseline? I’m honestly not sure what other ointments would be safe, but I know Vaseline wouldn’t hurt. Some others can chime in with options too.

I mean just too keep it from getting infected? Cause that can happen right if it breaks open? It’s not seeping though. It’s like it is almost hard inside but it doesn’t feel hard.

How’s he doing now?
As long as you’re keeping him on something clean and dry, it shouldn’t get infected. It should absorb pretty soon.

It has an even bigger lump now I’m wondering if it should be removed? Or left on

As long as you’re keeping him on something clean and dry, it shouldn’t get infected. It should absorb pretty soon.

@WVduckchick its still hanging in there. But the lump has gotten bigger. It hasn’t burst and there’s no blood. I’m scared he’s gonna get it with his little feet. I attached a pic so you can see what I’m talking about. It’s like it came out of the sac. Will it absorb this? Should I give it some water?

Ugh. Looks like the vent is closing but not drawing everything in. Not a whole lot you can do but wait and see. I suppose you could tape his toenails somehow? Or if you have the bottom half of the egg, you could maybe stick his butt and the blob back in it, and prop him up in a bowl.

You can try to drip some water down the side of his bill, but I’m not sure he’ll actually take it. And if you happen to have some NutriDrench, a dab of that on his bill wouldn’t hurt either.

If he lives, and doesn’t fully absorb, you will have to wait until it fully dries out to ship it off.
But hang in there, he seems to be a fighter!

I would use dental floss and just tie it off. Not extremely tight, and leave as much as you can.
Depending on how much you leave, I would expect it to absorb as much as it’s going to within 24 hours.
