Please Read! Bromethrin Rat Poison Warning!

Alas, sadly, many (most?) poisons and baits have added scents and ingredients that are very attractive (to a range of species), to entice the "problem" animal to eat them! :(
I guess growing up on the farm, we had mouse and rat poison flat out in the open 24/7. Perhaps then they were less lethal than they are now. Then again, maybe I was just lucky.
In a way I understand, I just hate it's attracting cats and dogs too.

It's awful stuff, all the way up the food chain. :( I have friends that work in wildlife rehabilitation and they have SO many wild birds of prey and other animals come in that have eaten poisoned rats/mice, and die slowly. The irony is of course that the owls, hawks, etc... would have killed and eaten many, many more pests over their lifetime than the poison killed.

So sorry you have had this awful experience.

Yeah, poison shouldn't even be legal. I'm sticking to mouse and rat traps.
I'm thinking of trying that live mouse trap with the bucket, that one you see online where they crawl across a wire or board and fall in, unable to climb out

News was not good.
This particular brand of rat poison uses a different toxin and it has no cure. So unfortunately my worst nightmare has come alive and I will lose all my cats. I can't even believe it, this is why I don't want to use it. It's all going straight to the fire pit no matter what is said. I don't even know what to say, this all could have been prevented. No happy ending after all. Thank you, everyone. Sorry I had to share this Very depressing moment with you guys.
Thank you for taking the time to warn us all in this awful time for you, and being brave enough to do so. I am so sorry this had to happen to you, but remember you did nothing wrong. Be kind to your self and take solace in the fact that you were brave enough to warn the rest of us to prevent this from happening again. Sending you thoughts and prayers. :hugs

I cannot express how amazing all your support is, guys. I might try writing an article, I've never done it before. I'll do whatever necessary to help bring awareness.
We literally just had a hailstorm while I was trying to watch the cats, so as of right now Smudge is the only one at the house. I'll get some pictures posted for you guys, I'm sure you'd love to see them

This is Smudge, he's an amazing cat I adopted from Pet smart, he lived the first 6 months of his life as a stray. He has lived the last many years as a pampered indoor/outdoor cat. He is claustrophobic, so his indoor time is very limited. Cuddle time is his favorite.

This is Ed, AKA Big Orange. He is a beautiful pale Orange color I'd never seen before. He was born on the farm when somebody dumped a pregnant stray on the property (it's sadly common). Ed loves to be held upside down like a baby, he LOVES my chickens. He spends nights in the coops sometimes, he always sleeps in the nesting boxes. His favorite food is fresh eggs.

This is Abby. She was pregnant and dumped on us back around 2010 or 2012, I honestly don't remember exact. She is not approachable and is always grouchy and irritable. We tried to spay her, but she vanished for about 8 days and we had to cancel the appointment as we presumed her dead. She magically appeared, PREGNANT AGAIN. One thing about her, is she always has the sweetest kittens. We let her live here and we feed her, she is probably older than we think since she was dumped here as an adult.

This is Fluffy. I apologize for the sad picture, as this is him fading away.
Fluffy and Ed are brothers. As a kitten, Fluffy was the FLUFFIEST and CHUBBIEST kitten, but when he grew up he lost it all. So the name never fit, but it stuck. Fluffy was always a bit shy, but he did like to be petted. When I found him paralyzed, he reached out for my hand and wanted me to pet his head. Fluffy loves to travel, and we'd always catch him miles from the house, but he always came back.
