Please say she will live 😭😭😭

She still seems a bit feisty still but does seem a bit shocked.

I think it happened around 3:30am but I’m not sure as I wasn’t home and thought they were all fine. Feel awful.

I am cleaning her up now. It’s not organs is it?

Your closeup photos are very good and clear, but what is the context? Where is the wound located on the chicken?

Wound care:

-Flush wound with soap and water, then irrigate with saline to restore chemical balance.
-If there is a skin flap, do not cut it off. You can use it as a graft to lay over the wound.
-Use Vetericyn and stay away from peroxide. The first encourages tissue growth. The second destroys it.
-Use triple antibiotic ointment or Neosporin on the raw wound, lay any skin flaps over the wound and "glue" them down with a generous amount of ointment over the top. In a few days the graft will take.

Clean and treat the wound every day and do not let it dry out under any circumstances.

An oral antibiotic is probably a good idea since the wound is pretty large and deep,

The injured chicken is doing pretty well but something came back about an hour ago and managed a kill. 😭😭😭

I am thinking weasel as that’s the only thing that I can think of that could possibly fit in there and her head was gone but not sure. We’re trying to get the trail cam set up but it’s not working. But we’ll be picking up a trap ASAP tomorrow.

Took a while to get her out as she was in the back up against the fence and no one could squeeze back there and she was also partially pulled under but we got her. Don’t want that little jerk feasting!

Not sure if the wound looks normal though or infected or? It was a teensy teeny bit dry/crusted? around the very edges so I put some more ointment on. The rest was still good though but just wanted to be careful.

I think the yellow is just fat/muscle? But idk. She’s very fit and lean and they all fly high/climb the fence regularly (literally) so I find it kind of hard to believe she’d be fat at all but

Smell it. You will smell infection. Keep it moist with ointment and she'll be okay.

Try offering her some scrambled egg. Ones that aren't burnt.

What kind of trap? If it’s a squirrel size cage cut up the dead chicken. Fresh organs and stuff will work.
100% sure it’s a weasel and not a mink?

pictures of pen, coop or wherever they’re being kept would be helpful.
I dislike playing 78 questions to help people anymore. I figure if they want it they’ll ask and provide all the details from the beginning.
