Please tell me this isn't what I think.. Graphic pics. I put her down

The update is she isn't laying whereas the others are. I'm getting 10-13 eggs a day but, not from her. She isn't eating well either.

Any ideas?

Gosh, I dunno. I've been giving oatmeal this week and they (my 20 hens and some boys) have gobbled that up.

She gets a rotation of vitamins, ACV, and plain water for her water. Treats just like the others. I have tried to keep things the same as the rest so she doesn't feel to left out even though I have her penned separate within the coop.

She has a messy behind too. Just on the feathers, the vent seems to stay clear.

Chickens have two ovaries...yet only ever use one. Usually the left.

I think it looks like a large meat spot...like what you would find inside of the egg. Looks like she has something going on inside of her repro tract that is causing excessive amounts of "slough".

It looks like a deflated soft shell egg with some egg goo attached. Do you have free choice oyster shell out for them, do you feed layer pellet?

If a chicken lays a soft shell egg, and it gets broken when she lays it, or when someone else steps on it- they will eat the yolk and whites, and leave the squishy shell. Often these will be in the nest box, but sometimes outside- they have a hard time laying them, as there is nothing to push against (too squishy), and sometimes they will be found under the perches or outside if they are walking around pushing.

I have an older girl who lays these from time to time, very annoying when she lays one on top of other nice eggs- big mess. I should cull her, as she does not give us eggs we can eat/use, but I like her too much.

Since you have her isolated anyway, maybe a course of antibiotics would be a good idea.

Hens normally have only one ovary that's active, the other atrophies and shrivels up. I don't know why they have 2, since they only use one. (Maybe left over from reptilian ancestry?)

They have free choice oyster shell but, don't seem to like it much. They prefer the egg shells I cook, crush, and feed back to them.

I would say it most definately is not a soft shelled egg. I have had those and this is nothing like it.

The messy feathers sounds like it could be vent gleet. Here is a link on some info about it.

The symptoms are not the same. The only thing the same is the messy backend but, her vent is normal and the pasting isn't affecting it. Here's what I found for Cloacitis symptoms:

Cloacitis

Symptoms. — The anus became red (inflamed),
protruded, and later ulcerated.

I'm beginning to think the best thing to do for her is put her down. The question being is it okay to process her or should I just put her down?
