OK,

I know a lot of people have a lot of trouble incubating shipped eggs. I got 12 Cayuga eggs. One was smashed on delivery and went in the bin. One was infertile.

So I now have 10 of 10 fertile eggs on day 18 moving vigorously.

The air cells aren't good some worse than others and I even washed them because they were dirty and I couldn't deal with it.

Sooo I want to hear from people who have incubated shipped eggs with funky cells. How many hatched and of the ones that quit when did they quit. Also how your chicks, ducklings, goslings whatever they were fair after. How many of you had to assist and who chose not to. Good or bad I just want to know people's experiences as I have never even incubated an egg before.

I just finished up my first batch of shipped eggs (first try incubating too, for what it's worth). I ordered 18 Cream Legbar eggs, they sent 20. They came from pretty far away, which was my first mistake. All had messed up air cells. 10 developed blood rings by day 10 or so. The other 10 made it to lockdown. 4 hatched. 1 pipped but ruptured it's yolk and drowned in the shell. I tried assisting but it kept bleeding so I had to give up. Another pipped but then never made any progress and died (I would've tried assisting that one but it pipped on the side I couldn't see, and by the time I realized it it was too late) . The others never even pipped, I didn't have the heart to eggtopsy them so I'm not sure when they died.

I'm trying again though, got 12 more CL eggs coming in a few days from a breeder much closer to me. And the person I bought my original 18 eggs from is sending me more for free since so few hatched.

Of the 4 chicks that hatched, they're doing great. They're only a few days old so of course anything could happen but so far they seem very healthy and strong.

Thanks for sharing. You know if i get 4 of 10 I will still be pretty happy so that sound promising.
