Polish Thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have any of you had issues with feathers not coming in? I have one chicken who has some silly looking growth going on. I have spent hours watching them to see if it is plucking related, and not seen any unless it is happening early in the AM or late in the PM in the coop.

The usual common suspects are lice/mites/worms. Do a routine health maintenance schedule of worming and Poultry Protector for preventative care - or for immediate results take it to a vet.

Here are some pics of my new babies from ideal!

Have you taken a fecal sample kit from the vet to test him for worms? It's also possible like my Silkie that he has picked up a digestive bacteria that interferes with appetite too. I would take him to a vet as this isn't sounding too good.
Not yet. I did treat for worms and mites though. And he's been eating the fermented feed like crazy. I just wish I could get him to eat some of the other things I'm offering. I think he'd fatten up quicker if he had a wider variety of things to eat.

My "Daisy" turned out to be a male.. So we changed his name to Kid. (after Kid Rock. Lol. Mom's idea actually.) .. Kid has hard times seeing, and I didn't want to cut the feathers of his crest off, because I am showing him at the county fair, and they want the feathers to be intact.. So what did we do? Mom found some little horse rubber bands, and now Kid is the only chicken on our block to have.... PIGTAILS. Lol. He looks at us like "This is so demeaning!!" But he can see, instead of just blindly running into the tractor tires... or coop walls. If we don't sell him after fair, I'm really going to trim that crest. He used to jump up in his cage, and once or twice kicked himself in the eye.. But if he has his crest trimmed, I'm sure he'll be happier. And of course, he's expirementing with a little bit of crowing. It sounds like a broken fog horn. Lol. Silly boy!!

"Really? This is demeaning!"

Grr..

My 3-year-old Silkie never ate tomatoes until this year when she saw the new Ameraucana indulging. Some foods take time to adjust to.

I had an old Cockatiel we inherited from the passing of a relative - his name was PeeWee for a reason. He was several grams underweight after a vet evaluated him. He stayed underweight his whole life and passed on at the ripe old age of 23 years still an underweight "peewee."
