I buy from the co-op and pay $8.50 for laying mash, and 7.50 for a bale of hay,(a very small cube of hay) due to the lack of rain in middle tenn all the hay fields dried up and hay is EXPENSIVE. But living on top of a mountain, I have to have the hay for the run, I can;t turn my girls out to forge for themselves, to many predators. Dog, cats, hawks and coyotes. Starter mash was 3.50 in April when i bought my chicks, but the drought really hit us hard.
