POLL: How much do you pay for a 50# bag of feed???

We buy organic feed from a local farmer who makes his own. Layer is 11.75, Starter/Broiler is 14.50. He did tell us that he is going to raise his prices a bit as the cost of corn has risen. I still think this is a GREAT price for organic, heck the Dumor junk at TSC is only a dollar less.

I ordered 50# of organic, soy free layer feed from Countryside Natural Products, Inc on Mon and it was delivered today. They charge $18.60 for the feed but the darn shipping costs $17.71 from VA to GA. This is the best I could find on the web.

I also feed Countryside Naturals. Their price for the poultry starter and the broiler feed is $20.30, and $18 for scratch. They ship small orders (under 500 lbs) by FedEx Ground, so the shipping cost is almost as much as the feed (but still a bargain compared to ordering it from Murray McMurray). If you can place an order over 500 lbs they'll ship it by truck which can hold the costs down. For where I live, I can get up to 2200 lbs delivered for the same shipping cost as the 600 lbs I just ordered. Now if I can just figure out how to store all that away from the mice...

I buy from the co-op and pay $8.50 for laying mash, and 7.50 for a bale of hay,(a very small cube of hay) due to the lack of rain in middle tenn all the hay fields dried up and hay is EXPENSIVE. But living on top of a mountain, I have to have the hay for the run, I can;t turn my girls out to forge for themselves, to many predators. Dog, cats, hawks and coyotes. Starter mash was 3.50 in April when i bought my chicks, but the drought really hit us hard.
