I put a lid on mine and listen for it to rattle, that helps. I've found that for a dozen eggs it takes about 15 ~ 20 minutes.
Yeah, it’s that 15-20 minutes that kicks my behind. In that time frame, I can go from the kitchen to the laundry room to the garage to the garden to the henhouse as one thing in each spot reminds me of one more thing I want to do in the next.

So, I cheat and boil eggs in my instantpot. Even then, I usually forget to ice bath in time. I end up Dr. Seuss’ing it - green eggs and ham (not green).

I didn't think I would like this little kitchen gadget so much at first but boy it comes in handy.
You can even easy peel extremely fresh, laid the same day, eggs when using it.

Eggs are awesome pretty much however they are cooked. Unless, when they are hard-boiled, they are overcooked and the yolks are green on the outside and the yolks are dry and chalky, then yuck. Just start the eggs in cold water, then bring to a boil, turn off the heat, cover and let set for 10 minutes, then shock in ice water. Done! Perfection!
Steam them. They come out perfect however you like them, and the shell peels beautifully. I'll never boil eggs again!

Lol. One post above yours.
Ah, I didn't see anywhere on there that said steam. I just use a veggie steam basket. Works like a charm. Soft steamed is my fave.
