Ah, I didn't see anywhere on there that said steam. I just use a veggie steam basket. Works like a charm. Soft steamed is my fave.View attachment 2888841
Well shoot it doesn't actually say it's steaming them but I'm pretty sure that's how it cooks them.
You pour a little tiny bit of water onto the heat plate...then place this little plastic egg holder thing on top of that to put the eggs in then put the lid on.
I'm pretty sure it is the steam that cooks them quickly.

Eggs are awesome pretty much however they are cooked. Unless, when they are hard-boiled, they are overcooked and the yolks are green on the outside and the yolks are dry and chalky, then yuck. Just start the eggs in cold water, then bring to a boil, turn off the heat, cover and let set for 10 minutes, then shock in ice water. Done! Perfection!
I agree about overcooked hardboiled eggs. I've found using the instant pot helps me to make the perfect egg and they peel well since all of mine are pretty fresh.

I had this thing called a tea egg a while ago. Although I do not eat it often, I would never give that to a dog. Just wanted to point that out.
Oh I see. Yeah, I get what you're saying now. I would never give my dogs something they shouldn't have. But, I guess some people do give things to their dogs that they shouldn't have - either without realizing it or not caring.

I hardboil my fresh eggs a little different. I keep them in the fridge while the water boils, then put the cold eggs in the boiling water. Boil them for five mins with the lid off. Then remove from heat, put lid on, and let sit for about 12-15 more mins. Then plunge in ice bath. Works very well for me to peel them and I rarely have one crack

Water acidized with vinegar or lemon juice.
Yeah, I know people do that. I've tried it myself. It's not something that works for me though. But, it's so little compared to the amount of water, it wouldn't do much to the eggs as far as when you eat them. I also know the trick with a pinch of salt. I guess the way it was posted, I thought they were boiling eggs in something else besides water.

Salt is added to the water to increase the temperature it boils at.

Acid (vinegar or lemon juice) is added to start dissolving the egg shell making it softer and more pliable.
