Pony For Daughter--Update Page 8. Great First Year Together

I love Pasos!! The one I worked with was, like you said, very hot, but not dangerous. He was sensitive and truly bonded with certain people, to the point he wouldn't let the stable hands catch him from the pasture--only his "peeps". Before he was retired he was trail ridden. They are like an Andalusian but with lots more energy and pizzazz!! I love it when they show them and they trot them over the boards so you can hear their gait--pretty neat!

Wrangler... Congrats! I want to see pics too!

Peaches... I know!

I've had seven Paso Finos and all of them were different and different levels of temperment. never had a mean one but it takes a bit of experience to ride one. However a few of them are pretty good for kids. The Puerto Ricans seems to be a bit more calmer than the Colombians which they are very "brio" under saddle. However I don't think Op's daughter is looking for a "smooth" ride, more like a horse that can do things and learn from it. If later down the line if her daughter wants a smooth gaited horse, then she should look into gaited breeds.

All in all, it boils down what the buyer is looking for and what they can afford and what kind of experience, temperment and training the horse had.

I think the one you just found is an excellent choice and you don't have to look very far to find a good horse.

Here's a link to the pony. Found out about her on dreamhorse.com but since she was local, they already use the same vet and farrier that I do and the place where I board buys hay from their farm. Selling her because their 10 yr old daughter is outgrowing her and parents bought her a horse so she can show seriously.

I was going to say get one that your daughter can tack up and mount herself. I went through several ponies as a child. The ones 'my size' were by far my favorite and the most fun.

Grats on a nice find, good price too.

When DD brushed her for the first time, with wide eyes she said: "I can brush the WHOLE pony!"

She arrives Saturday at 11am. Need to remember the camera!
