Apache is settling in nicely--bossing around the mini-donkey and mini-mule she is pastured with, lol.
FORGOT THE CAMERA!!!
On top of that I locked the keys and checkbook in the truck so the barn owner had to drive me home so I could get the spare keys and pay board on the pony.
DD had fun brushing her and playing with her today.
Here's me working with Apache today. DD is down at my mother's this week for spring break which gives me time to try the pony out and work the kinks out of her a bit.
After riding my mare for 12+ years, it IS fun to get on and ride other horses, er, ponies too. I have to think when I ride the pony and act on those thoughts. Izzie basically reads my mind and we go. It's great that we're so in tune, but it makes me ride better to ride another horse that I have to think when I ride.
Vet was out today and Apache was SSSOOOOO good. The vet was very smitten with her and wants to buy her when DD outgrows her (her children are 3 and newborn) and said she normally doesn't like ponies but this one was so cute and well-behaved. So, by the time my daughter outgrows her, vet's daughter will be about 6-7 yrs old and perfect for her.
Very cool.
Vet also checked her for thyroid issues given her obesity.
I lol'ed at the vet, examining her and saying "You do know this pony is very obese, don't you?"
Really?
One of my old college friends (not a horse person) saw a pic of her on Facebook and asked, "Aren't you supposed to use a saddle?"
