Pony For Daughter--Update Page 8. Great First Year Together

Since this pony is grade, something tells me she is mostly Welsh and maybe Arabian?????????? I love to play guessing games on her breed.

Any interesting history how the previous owner came to get her, did they train her themselves?

She's definitely got some Welsh in her. The other part/s?

American Shetland, Arab, maybe Haflinger or even something else. Matchings pics to her, she looks like a purebred Welsh Mountain Pony. I wouldn't be surprised if there are papers floating around somewhere for her.

The people I got her from live about 10 miles east of where I board and the barn owners buy hay from these people. They had gotten the pony from a woman who had gotten her from the Amish community near Gladwin (county SW of us). Apparently the Amish trained her.

She's got quite a stride on her and some knee action as you can see from the pictures. She can walk faster than my mare (who has a pretty dopey walk for the Arab/Saddlebred that she is). My dressage friend is strongly suggesting that we use her for low level dressage due to her long stride and naturally flowing gaits. Vet said her heart rate is low so that's good for distance.

I'm also sorely tempted to breed her to my friend's Crabbet stallion ...

DD and the pony took their first trail ride today! Mud, ice, branches, logs, water, hills, the pony took them all in stride!

DD did pretty good riding too.
